The engagement ring has carried meaning for centuries. The ancient Egyptians believed the circle represented eternity, and the Romans formalised the tradition of giving a ring as a promise of marriage. The diamond engagement ring as we know it today took hold in the late nineteenth century, but the sentiment behind it is far older than any gemstone.
What has changed is how people choose their rings. A generation ago, most couples picked from a glass cabinet. Today, more people want something that actually means something to them. That is what we do at Si Vis Amari. We design rings around real stories, real preferences, and real people. Some customers walk in knowing every detail. Others walk in with nothing but a budget and a deadline. Both walk out with a ring that feels right.
Coloured Gemstone Engagement Rings
Not every engagement ring needs a diamond. Emeralds, sapphires, and rubies have been set in engagement rings for centuries, and they carry a depth of colour that diamonds simply cannot match. Our coloured gemstone collection includes both signature designs and fully bespoke pieces like The Peacock, a one-of-a-kind emerald and sapphire ring we designed around a customer’s personal story. If you have something specific in mind, we would love to hear about it.
Browse by Diamond Shape
The shape of your diamond is one of the most personal choices you will make. A round brilliant gives you maximum sparkle. An oval elongates the finger and feels modern. An emerald cut is clean, architectural, and quietly confident. Every design in our collection works with any of the shapes below.

Choosing Your Diamond
We offer both lab-grown and natural diamonds. Both are real diamonds, identical in every physical and optical property. The difference is how they are made and what they cost.
Lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment that replicates the conditions deep within the earth. They display the same brilliance, fire, and hardness as natural stones. Our lab-grown diamonds are certified by GIA or IGI, graded D or E colour with VS1 to VVS1 clarity, and laser inscribed with a unique report number for traceability. They typically cost significantly less than natural diamonds of the same specification, which means more size and quality for your budget.
Natural diamonds carry the weight of geological rarity. Each one formed over billions of years beneath the surface of the earth. We source natural diamonds exclusively with GIA certification, the world’s most respected independent grading authority. Every natural diamond is sourced to your exact specification with a no-obligation quote.
Whichever you choose, we assess every stone individually for cut quality, proportions, and light performance before presenting it to you. The 4Cs give you the framework, but numbers on a certificate only tell part of the story. Two diamonds with the same grade can look very different in person. That is what your consultation is for.
Precious Metals
Every engagement ring is available in your choice of precious metal. Platinum is what most of our customers choose. It is naturally white, extremely durable, and hypoallergenic. Over time it develops a soft patina that many people grow to prefer, and it polishes beautifully at each service. 18ct white gold offers a similar look at a slightly lower price point, rhodium plated for a bright white finish. 18ct yellow gold is a timeless classic that pairs beautifully with warmer diamond colours. 18ct rose gold has a warm, contemporary feel that works particularly well with vintage and halo designs.
All of our rings carry a full UK hallmark verified by the Birmingham Assay Office. That is your guarantee of precious metal quality, and it is a legal requirement we take seriously.
Our Process
We work by appointment only, and that is deliberate. Every consultation is unhurried, personal, and completely without obligation. We want you to feel comfortable asking questions, changing your mind, and taking your time. From first conversation to finished ring, the process typically takes four to six weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a diamond engagement ring cost?
Our diamond engagement rings start from around £1,500 for a lab-grown diamond in a solitaire setting. The final price depends on the diamond shape, carat weight, setting style, and metal. Use the configurator on any product page to see live pricing, or contact us for a bespoke quote.
What is the difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond?
Physically, chemically, and optically they are the same thing. Same hardness, same brilliance, same fire. The difference is origin. Lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment. Natural diamonds are mined from the earth. Both are independently certified and graded to identical standards. Lab-grown diamonds cost significantly less, which means you get more size and quality for your money.
Which diamond shape is best for an engagement ring?
There is no single best shape. Round brilliant is the most popular and delivers the most sparkle. Oval and pear shapes elongate the finger. Emerald and Asscher cuts have a distinctive step-cut look. The right shape is the one that feels right when you see it on your hand. We can show you all of them during your appointment.
What is the difference between a solitaire and a halo engagement ring?
A solitaire features a single diamond with no accent stones. It is clean, timeless, and lets the diamond speak for itself. A halo surrounds the centre stone with smaller diamonds, which adds sparkle and makes the centre stone appear larger. Both are beautiful. It comes down to how much visual impact you want.
How long does it take to make a diamond engagement ring?
Typically four to six weeks from your first consultation to the finished ring. Every ring is made to order individually in the UK, set with your chosen certified diamond, and hallmarked before delivery. We do not carry pre-made stock.
Do you offer natural diamonds as well as lab-grown?
Yes. We offer both across our full collection. Lab-grown diamonds are certified by GIA or IGI. Natural diamonds are sourced exclusively with GIA certification. We will walk you through the differences and help you decide during your consultation.
Can I design a completely bespoke engagement ring?
Yes. We design fully bespoke engagement rings from scratch. Bring us a sketch, a photograph, or just tell us what matters to you. We have designed rings around peacock feathers, family heirlooms, and stories that mean everything to the couple involved. Get in touch to start the conversation.
What metal should I choose for my engagement ring?
Platinum is the most popular choice for its durability and natural white colour. 18ct white gold offers a similar look at a lower price. 18ct yellow gold and rose gold each bring a distinctive warmth. The best choice depends on your personal style, your skin tone, and what feels right on your hand. We can advise during your appointment.
Do your diamonds come with certification?
Every diamond we set is independently certified. Lab-grown diamonds are certified by GIA or IGI. Natural diamonds carry GIA certification exclusively. Each certificate details cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight, and the diamond is laser inscribed with its unique report number so it can always be identified.
