About This Design
Leaf engagement rings take something deeply personal and turn it into a piece of jewellery that means more than precious metal and stone alone. The Monstera was designed for Ravi and Beth, a couple from Stockport who wanted a ring that reflected who Beth really is. She is a primary school teacher who loves the outdoors, collects plants, and has a particular soft spot for the monstera. That became the starting point for everything.
The concept was simple and beautiful. Two hand-sculpted monstera leaves rise from the band and gently cradle the diamond, curling around the stone the way the plant itself unfurls new growth. The leaves do not just decorate the ring. They are the setting. The diamond sits within them, held by four talon claws that emerge naturally from the foliage. There is nothing forced or mechanical about the construction. The whole piece flows with an organic rhythm that feels alive on the finger.
Ravi is a doctor with an eye for detail, and he was involved at every stage. One of the toughest decisions was the metal. He had always imagined the ring in 18ct yellow gold, picturing the warm tone against the sculptural leaves. But as the design developed, he started to question whether Beth would prefer platinum. He tried to subtly find out without giving the game away, but she did not give much away either. In the end, he chose platinum, and the cooler tone gives the leaves a quality that feels almost like real foliage cast in metal. It was the right call.
The diamond is a 0.91 carat round brilliant, GIA certified, H colour, SI1 clarity, with an Excellent cut grade. A natural diamond was important to Ravi. The proportions sit perfectly within the leaf setting, with enough presence to catch the light from every angle while the organic detail around it draws the eye along the band.
Ravi proposed in New Zealand at the start of August, and Beth said yes. A nature-loving teacher, a ring inspired by her favourite plant, and a proposal on the other side of the world surrounded by some of the most dramatic landscape on earth. Some stories write themselves.
Design Details
The Monstera is built around a single round brilliant diamond held in a four-talon claw setting. The claws are not separate from the design. They grow out of the leaf forms themselves, gripping the stone securely while maintaining the organic, flowing character of the ring. This is a leaf diamond ring where the setting and the decoration are one and the same.
Two monstera-inspired leaves form the shoulders, sculpted with the natural splits and curves that make the plant so distinctive. The leaves taper into a clean, rounded band that sits comfortably on the finger. The profile is slim enough to feel delicate without being fragile. The band has a soft D-profile, smooth on the inside for everyday wear.
Crafted in platinum, the metal choice gives the piece a weight and permanence that suits the sculptural detail. Platinum is naturally white, so the leaves and claws will never require rhodium plating. The finish is a gentle polish that lets the leaf texture catch light softly rather than reflecting it harshly.
The ring sits relatively low on the finger thanks to the leaf setting, which means it is practical for someone who works with their hands every day. A bespoke engagement ring should not just look right. It should feel right too, and this one was designed with Beth’s daily life as a teacher firmly in mind.
For wedding ring compatibility, a straight band will sit neatly alongside the Monstera. The leaf shoulders do not extend below the centre stone, so there is no gap between the two rings. A shaped or contoured wedding band is also an option for a closer fit around the leaf detail.
Your Diamond
The Monstera was made with a natural GIA certified diamond. Ravi chose a 0.91 carat round brilliant with H colour, SI1 clarity, and an Excellent cut grade. Natural diamonds were a personal choice for this couple, and we sourced the stone individually to match the proportions of the leaf setting.
If this design inspires you, we can create your own version with a natural or lab-grown diamond of your preferred size and specification. Every Monstera is made to order, so the diamond is selected specifically for your ring. Get in touch to start the conversation.
How It Works
The Monstera is a bespoke design, so there is no online configurator. Every leaf engagement ring we make starts with a conversation. We sit down together at our Didsbury or Manchester city centre studio, talk through what matters to you, and develop the design from there. Whether you want to recreate this exact ring or use it as a starting point for something entirely your own, the process is personal from the first sketch to the finished piece.
Pricing depends on your choice of metal, diamond specification, and any design changes you would like to make. Book a consultation and we will provide a detailed quote with no obligation.
Crafted by Hand
Every Si Vis Amari ring is handcrafted individually and hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office in accordance with UK law. The Monstera is made specifically for you by experienced craftspeople who understand that every piece tells a story. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is a leaf engagement ring made once, for one person, by hand.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order the Monstera leaf engagement ring in gold instead of platinum?
Yes. The Monstera can be made in platinum, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold, or 18ct rose gold. Ravi’s version is platinum, but the leaf design would look equally striking in a warm yellow or rose gold. We will help you decide during your consultation.
What diamond shapes work with a leaf engagement ring setting?
The original Monstera was designed around a round brilliant diamond, which suits the organic flow of the leaves beautifully. An oval diamond or pear shape would also complement the natural, botanical feel. We can adapt the leaf setting to suit your preferred shape.
How much does a bespoke leaf diamond engagement ring cost?
Pricing for the Monstera depends on your choice of metal, diamond size, and specification. As a bespoke piece, every ring is quoted individually. Book a consultation at our Didsbury or Manchester studio for a no-obligation quote.
Is a nature-inspired engagement ring practical for everyday wear?
Absolutely. The Monstera was specifically designed to sit low on the finger and withstand daily wear. Beth is a primary school teacher, so practicality was a key consideration from the start. Platinum is one of the most durable precious metals, and the leaf setting protects the diamond without adding unnecessary height or bulk.
