The name comes from two Latin words: calyx, the part of a flower that cradles and protects the bud, and scintilla, meaning a spark or flash of light. Together they describe exactly what this ring does. The centre diamond is held in a six-claw petal setting that opens like a flower when viewed from the side, while pavé-set diamonds run along both shoulders, adding a continuous line of sparkle across the band.

This is a ring for someone who wants more than a plain solitaire but does not want anything overly elaborate. The pavé shoulders add presence and brilliance without competing with the centre stone, and the petal gallery gives the ring a character that only reveals itself on closer inspection. It is elegant from a distance and detailed up close.

Design Details

The six claws are not simply functional. They are shaped to form a petal motif around the base of the diamond, with the north and south claws flowing into a sculpted leaf shape that is visible from the side. This gallery detail is one of the defining features of the Calyx family and gives the ring a softer, more organic feel than a standard claw setting.

The shoulders are micro-claw pavé set, with each accent diamond held in its own individual mount to allow maximum light through and underneath the stones. The band tapers gently from the shoulders toward the back of the ring, keeping the overall profile delicate and comfortable for everyday wear. The pavé extends far enough along the band to be visible from every angle but stops before the underside, so the ring sits flat and stable on the finger.

As with every shoulder set engagement ring we make, we maintain strict minimum metal tolerances around each pavé diamond and stress-test the finished ring for hours in an ultrasonic bath to confirm that every stone is fully secure before it leaves our hands.

Our lab-grown diamonds are graded to D or E colour with VS1 to VVS1 clarity and an Excellent or Ideal cut. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. They are real diamonds, certified independently by the IGI or GIA.
