About This Design

The princess cut diamond ring is one of the most sought-after engagement ring styles, and the Quadrata Scintilla is our shoulder-set interpretation of it. Where its sibling, the Quadrata, strips the princess cut back to its purest form, the Scintilla adds a line of micro claw-set diamonds along each shoulder, bringing extra light and a finer sense of detail to the same bold, angular design.

The name Scintilla means “spark” in Latin, and it describes exactly what the diamond shoulders bring to this ring. The centre stone does the heavy lifting, but the shoulders catch light from every angle, adding a continuous thread of brilliance that draws the eye along the full length of the band. It is a princess cut engagement ring with presence, built on precision and finished with care.

Design Details

The princess cut diamond sits in a four-claw setting with each claw positioned directly over one of the stone’s four pointed corners. This protects the most vulnerable part of the diamond while keeping the full face of the square centre stone visible from above.

The diamond shoulders are micro claw-set, meaning each small diamond is held by its own tiny claws rather than being channel-set or grain-set. Micro claw settings allow maximum light to pass through and around each stone, which is why the shoulders appear brighter and more lively than in other setting styles. The diamonds run along both shoulders, tapering as the band approaches the centre stone.

On the bridge, a sapphire accent sits in a rub-over bezel, a small but deliberate detail that is only visible from certain angles. It adds a private touch of colour to a design that is otherwise entirely white, and it follows the angular design language that runs through the Quadrata family.

The band is 1.8mm wide with a parallel profile, maintaining a consistent width from shoulder to shoulder. This gives the Quadrata Scintilla a slightly more refined, delicate feel than the tapering 2.2mm band of the original Quadrata. The proportions are calibrated so the diamond shoulders sit in balance with the centre stone without overwhelming it.

A straight wedding band will sit flush against the Quadrata Scintilla. The setting height and shoulder profile are designed so that no shaped or contoured wedding ring is needed, unless you prefer that look.

Your Diamond

The Quadrata Scintilla is available with both lab-grown and natural princess cut diamonds, so you can choose the stone that best reflects your values and budget.

Our lab-grown diamonds are graded to D or E colour with VS1 to VVS1 clarity. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. They are real diamonds, certified independently by the IGI or GIA.

For natural princess cut diamonds, we source stones individually to match your requirements. The princess cut is classified as a square modified brilliant by the GIA and does not receive a formal cut grade, so we assess every stone’s symmetry, proportions, and light performance ourselves before presenting it to you. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Quadrata and the Quadrata Scintilla?

The Quadrata is a solitaire design with a clean, unadorned band that tapers from 2.2mm to the head. The Quadrata Scintilla adds micro claw-set diamond shoulders to both sides of the band, bringing extra brilliance while keeping the same angular design language. The Scintilla also has a slightly narrower 1.8mm parallel band. Both use V-claw corner protection and feature a sapphire accent on the bridge.

Will a straight wedding ring sit flush with the Quadrata Scintilla?

Yes. The Quadrata Scintilla is designed so that a straight wedding band sits flush against the engagement ring with no gap. The shoulder height and claw positioning are calibrated during the design stage to ensure compatibility. You do not need a shaped or contoured wedding band unless you prefer that look.

What is the sapphire accent on the bridge?

The bridge features a small sapphire set in a rub-over bezel. It is a discreet detail that is only visible from certain angles, adding a private touch of colour to the design. If you would prefer a different coloured gemstone or a diamond in this position, we can accommodate that. Contact us to discuss.

Why are the shoulders micro claw-set rather than channel-set?

Micro claw settings hold each shoulder diamond individually with tiny claws, allowing maximum light to pass through and around every stone. This makes the shoulders noticeably brighter and more lively than channel-set or grain-set alternatives. It requires more precision during manufacture, but the difference in sparkle is worth it.

Carat weights shown are approximate. Your diamond will be within the stated range (e.g. a 0.75ct selection may be 0.73–0.78ct). Exact weight and specification confirmed at time of order.
