Solitaire Engagement Rings

Solitaire engagement rings are the most iconic style there is. A single diamond, one setting, nothing to distract from the stone. It sounds simple, and that is exactly what makes it difficult to get right. With a solitaire, there is nowhere to hide. Every line, every curve, every proportion has to be considered. That is why we design each of ours from scratch rather than relying on mass-produced mounts.

Every solitaire diamond ring in our collection is handcrafted in platinum or 18ct gold, set with a certified lab-grown or natural diamond, and designed to sit flush against classic wedding rings. That last point matters more than most people realise. Many high-end brands design their engagement rings so they cannot sit flat against a straight wedding band, which means the customer has to come back and buy a shaped ring from the same company. We think that is poor design. Every solitaire engagement ring we make is wedding ring compatible from the start, so you have complete freedom to choose your wedding ring from anywhere.

Our Solitaire Collection

Each solitaire in our range takes a different approach to the same idea. Simplicitas is a classic two-part mount where the head and shank are made separately and assembled. The focus is entirely on line, shape, and proportion. It is traditional ring making at its most disciplined, where simplicity is the hardest thing to achieve because there is nothing to hide behind.

Fluere takes the opposite approach. It is a one-part mount where the head flows directly into the shank with no visible separation. The design leans on organic movement and crossover lines, creating a solitaire engagement ring that feels more sculptural than structural. If you are drawn to a crossover engagement ring style, this is where to start.

Lapillus builds on the Simplicitas concept but adds a hidden gemstone beneath the centre diamond, a small personal detail that only the wearer knows is there. It is a subtle way to add meaning without changing the clean solitaire look from above.

Setting Styles

The setting is what holds the diamond in place, and the style you choose affects both how the ring looks and how much of the stone is visible. We offer four-claw, six-claw, and compass (north-south-east-west) settings as standard. A four-claw setting shows more of the diamond and gives a cleaner look. A six prong solitaire engagement ring holds the stone more securely and creates a slightly more traditional feel. Compass settings place the claws at the cardinal points, which works particularly well with square and rectangular diamond shapes like emerald and princess cuts.

Beyond claw count, we also offer twist settings and crossover settings for a more distinctive look. The claw style, height, and profile are all things we discuss during your consultation and can be tailored to suit the diamond shape you choose.

Band Profiles

The band profile is the cross-sectional shape of the ring and it affects both comfort and appearance. We can accommodate any profile including D-shape (the most popular, rounded on the outside and flat on the inside), court (rounded on both sides for maximum comfort), flat (modern and architectural), and knife-edge (a subtle ridge that catches the light). The right profile depends on personal preference, hand shape, and how the ring sits alongside a wedding band.

Choosing Your Diamond Shape

A solitaire works with every diamond shape, and each creates a different character. An oval solitaire engagement ring elongates the finger and gives a contemporary feel. A round brilliant solitaire is the most classic combination with maximum sparkle. An emerald cut solitaire ring is clean and architectural with a hall-of-mirrors effect. A pear shaped solitaire engagement ring is dramatic and distinctive. Every design in our collection can be configured with any of our eight diamond shapes using the online configurator, or we can discuss your options during a consultation.

Metals

Every solitaire is available in platinum, 18ct white gold, 18ct yellow gold, and 18ct rose gold. A yellow gold solitaire engagement ring brings warmth and a timeless quality, while a platinum solitaire engagement ring offers the highest durability and a naturally white finish that will never fade. All of our rings carry a full UK hallmark verified by the Birmingham Assay Office.

Lab-Grown and Natural Diamonds

Our solitaire collection is available with both lab-grown solitaire diamond rings and natural diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds are certified by GIA or IGI, graded D or E colour with VS1 to VVS1 clarity, and cost significantly less than natural stones of the same specification. Natural diamonds are sourced exclusively with GIA certification and quoted individually to your requirements. Both options are real diamonds with identical physical, chemical, and optical properties.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a solitaire engagement ring cost?
Our solitaire engagement rings start from around £1,500 for a lab-grown diamond in platinum or 18ct gold. The price depends on the diamond shape, carat weight, and whether you choose lab-grown or natural. Use the configurator on any product page to see live pricing.

What is the difference between a four-claw and six-claw setting?
A four-claw setting shows more of the diamond surface and gives a cleaner, more open look. A six-claw setting holds the stone more securely and creates a slightly more traditional appearance. Both are excellent choices, and the right one depends on the diamond shape and your personal preference.

Will a solitaire engagement ring sit flush with a wedding ring?
Yes. Every solitaire engagement ring we design is made to be wedding ring compatible. The setting height and profile are considered from the outset so your engagement ring sits flush against a straight wedding band. This gives you complete freedom to choose your wedding ring from any jeweller, not just us.

What diamond shape is best for a solitaire engagement ring?
Every shape works in a solitaire setting. Round brilliant is the most popular for maximum sparkle. Oval is the fastest-growing choice for its elongating effect. Emerald and princess cuts suit customers who prefer geometric, structured lines. It comes down to what draws your eye.

Can I design a bespoke solitaire engagement ring?
Absolutely. Our collection is a starting point, not a limit. If you want a specific band profile, claw style, setting height, or any other detail tailored to your preferences, we will design it from scratch. Get in touch to discuss your ideas.

Do you offer a single diamond engagement ring with no accent stones?
Yes. That is exactly what a solitaire is. Many rings in this collection feature a single diamond with no side stones, no hidden details and no distractions where the focus is entirely on the centre stone and the quality of the setting.
