About This Design

The Lapillus by Si Vis Amari is a solitaire hidden diamond engagement ring with a quiet secret. At first glance, it’s a clean, classic four-prong solitaire — but look from the side and you’ll find a hidden accent diamond nestled beneath the centre stone. It’s a detail that only reveals itself up close, a personal touch that the wearer carries with them.

The name comes from the Latin for “small stone” — a nod to the hidden gem at the heart of the design. The Lapillus is for someone who appreciates understated elegance with a meaningful detail. It doesn’t shout. It doesn’t need to.

Design Details

The Lapillus uses a classic four-prong setting that holds the centre diamond high and open to light from all angles. The prongs are shaped to cover as little of the stone as possible, letting the full brilliance of the cut come through.

Beneath the centre stone, a single accent diamond is set into the gallery — visible from the side profile but hidden when viewed from above. This creates a layered design that rewards a closer look without adding visual bulk. The band uses an elegant D-profile — rounded on the outside for comfort, with a clean transition into the gallery.

Your Diamond

The Lapillus is available with both lab-grown and natural diamonds, so you can choose the stone that best reflects your values and budget.

Our lab-grown diamonds are graded to D or E colour with VS1 to VVS1 clarity and an Excellent or Ideal cut — the finest quality available, without the ethical and environmental concerns of mining. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. They are real diamonds, certified independently by the IGI or GIA.

For natural diamonds, we source stones individually to match your requirements. Whether you have a specific carat weight, colour, or budget in mind, we’ll find the right stone and walk you through the options before you commit. Request a natural diamond quote through the configurator or get in touch directly.

Si Vis Amari offers the highest quality tier for our lab-grown collection. The standard shown here — D/E colour, VS1–VVS1 clarity, Excellent cut — is our recommendation and it’s the standard we set for our own rings. The cut grade, in particular, is something we never compromise on — it’s the single biggest factor in how much a diamond sparkles, and every stone we set is cut to Excellent or Ideal grade.

How It Works

Use the configurator above to build your ring exactly as you want it. Select your preferred metal — platinum, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold, or 18ct rose gold — and pick your carat weight. The price updates live as you configure, so there are no surprises and no waiting for a quote.

If you’d prefer a natural diamond, a carat weight outside the standard ranges, or have any other specific requirements, get in touch. We’ll put together a bespoke quote and walk you through the options.

Crafted by Hand

Every Si Vis Amari engagement ring is handcrafted individually and hallmarked in accordance with UK law. We don’t batch-produce or mass-manufacture rings — your Lapillus is made specifically for you, by experienced craftspeople who understand that every piece tells a story. From the initial consultation through to the finished ring in your hands, every step reflects a commitment to getting the details right.

Carat weights shown are approximate. Your diamond will be within the stated range (e.g. a 1ct selection may be 0.95–1.05ct). Exact weight and specification confirmed at time of order.

What makes the Lapillus different from a classic solitaire engagement ring?

The Lapillus looks like a clean four-prong solitaire from above, but it has a hidden accent diamond set into the gallery beneath the centre stone. It’s a personal detail that only reveals itself from the side, giving the design a layer of meaning that a standard solitaire setting doesn’t offer.

What metals is the Lapillus available in?

The Lapillus is handcrafted in platinum, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold, and 18ct rose gold. Our 18ct white gold uses a high palladium alloy that stays naturally white without rhodium plating. All four metals are always available and the price adjusts live in the configurator above.

Can I choose between a lab-grown and natural diamond for the Lapillus?

Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are available to configure and purchase directly through the page. Every lab-grown diamond we set is graded D or E colour, VS1 to VVS1 clarity, and Excellent or Ideal cut, certified by the IGI or GIA. For natural diamonds, we source stones individually to match your requirements and provide a no-obligation quote.

What does the name Lapillus mean?

Lapillus is Latin for “small stone.” It’s a reference to the hidden accent diamond tucked beneath the centre stone. Every Si Vis Amari engagement ring carries a Latin name that reflects something about the design itself.

Will a wedding band sit flush against the Lapillus?

Yes. The Lapillus has a straight gallery profile with no protruding basket or gallery arms, so most straight wedding bands will sit flush against it without any gap. If you’d prefer a shaped or contoured band, we can design one to follow the exact profile of your ring.

How is the Lapillus made?

Every Lapillus is handcrafted individually by experienced UK craftspeople and hallmarked by an official UK Assay Office in accordance with the Hallmarking Act. We don’t batch-produce or mass-manufacture. Your ring is made specifically for you, from the initial consultation through to the finished piece.

Carat weights shown are approximate. Your diamond will be within the stated range (e.g. a 0.75ct selection may be 0.73–0.78ct). Exact weight and specification confirmed at time of order.
