About This Design
The princess cut solitaire engagement ring is one of the most requested styles we design, and the Quadrata is our answer to it. The name comes from the Latin for “square,” and every detail in this ring is shaped by that geometry. The V-claw setting, the pyramid gallery, the rhombus accent on the bridge. Nothing here is rounded or softened. It is a ring that commits fully to the angular character of the princess cut diamond and makes the most of it.
The Quadrata holds a GIA certified princess cut diamond in four V-shaped claws that follow the diamond’s pointed corners rather than fighting against them. Beneath the stone, the gallery opens into a pyramid shape that frames the diamond from every angle, giving the ring a strong, architectural profile when viewed from the side. It is a design for people who want clean lines, sharp edges, and a ring that looks as considered from the side as it does from above.
Design Details
The setting uses four V-shaped claws, each one precisely positioned over a corner of the princess cut diamond. V-claws are not just an aesthetic choice here. The pointed corners of a princess cut are its most vulnerable feature, and the V-claws cup each corner securely, protecting the diamond from chipping while keeping as much of the stone’s face visible as possible.
Below the diamond, the gallery is shaped into a pyramid form that mirrors the geometry of the princess cut itself. This is not a standard basket or cathedral gallery. The pyramid opens outward from the base of the diamond, creating clean sight lines through the setting and allowing light to enter the stone from all sides. It gives the Quadrata a distinctive side profile that sets it apart from conventional solitaire designs.
The bridge features a small natural diamond accent, approximately 1.2mm, set into a rub-over bezel shaped as a rhombus. This detail is only visible from certain angles, a subtle signature that rewards closer inspection. The rhombus shape continues the angular theme that runs through the entire design, from the square diamond to the V-claws to the pyramid gallery.
The band is 2.2mm wide, tapering gently as it approaches the head of the ring. The profile is a slight court, meaning the inside edge is gently rounded for comfort while the outer surface maintains a clean, flat appearance. The taper keeps the proportions balanced, ensuring the diamond remains the focal point without the band feeling too heavy or too delicate.
A straight wedding band will sit flush against the Quadrata. The setting height and claw positioning are calibrated so that no shaped or contoured wedding ring is needed, unless you prefer that look.
Your Diamond
The Quadrata is available with both lab-grown and natural princess cut diamonds, so you can choose the stone that best reflects your values and budget.
Our lab-grown diamonds are graded to D or E colour with VS1 to VVS1 clarity. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. They are real diamonds, certified independently by the IGI or GIA.
For natural princess cut diamonds, we source stones individually to match your requirements. The princess cut does not receive a formal cut grade from the GIA, so we assess every stone’s symmetry, proportions, and light performance ourselves before presenting it to you. Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Quadrata use V-claws instead of standard prongs?
The princess cut diamond has four sharp, pointed corners that are vulnerable to chipping if left exposed. V-shaped claws are specifically designed to cup and protect each corner, providing structural security without covering the face of the diamond. Standard round prongs would leave the corners unprotected and would not complement the angular geometry of the stone.
Will a straight wedding ring sit flush with the Quadrata?
Yes. The Quadrata is designed so that a straight wedding band sits flush against the engagement ring with no gap. The setting height and claw positioning are calibrated during the design stage to ensure compatibility. You do not need a shaped or contoured wedding band unless you prefer that look.
What is the accent diamond on the bridge?
The bridge of the Quadrata features a small natural diamond, approximately 1.2mm, set into a rub-over bezel shaped as a rhombus. It is a discreet detail that is only visible from certain angles. The rhombus shape continues the angular design language that runs through the entire ring, from the square diamond to the V-claws to the pyramid gallery.
Can I choose my own princess cut diamond for the Quadrata?
Yes. If you have a specific diamond in mind, whether that is a particular carat weight, a natural stone, or a family diamond you would like us to set, we can accommodate that. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we will advise on compatibility with the Quadrata setting.
