About This Design
The marquise trilogy ring pairs one of the most dramatic diamond shapes with two pear-shaped side stones that mirror and extend its pointed silhouette. The Marchionis, named from the Latin for “marquise,” is a three stone design that feels like a single, unified composition rather than three separate diamonds placed side by side. The pear accents taper outward from the centre stone, continuing the marquise’s elongated line and creating a flowing, flame-like outline across the top of the ring.
This is not a conventional trilogy where three stones sit in a row. The pear side stones are positioned to complement the marquise’s pointed ends, amplifying its length and creating a silhouette that catches light along its full span. It is a ring designed for people who want presence and personality without relying on sheer carat weight to make an impact.
Design Details
The marquise centre stone is held in a six-claw talon setting. Talon claws are slender and pointed, gripping the diamond with precision while covering as little of the stone’s surface as possible. Six claws provide secure hold across the marquise’s elongated shape, with claws positioned to protect both pointed ends and support the curved sides.
Each pear-shaped side stone is set in three talon claws, following the same claw style as the centre stone for a consistent design language across all three diamonds. The pear stones are oriented with their points facing outward, away from the marquise, which extends the overall length of the trio and gives the ring its distinctive flame-like profile.
The band is 1.8mm wide with a D-shaped profile, keeping the proportions refined so the three-stone arrangement remains the focal point. The metalwork is kept clean and minimal, letting the diamonds do the talking.
A straight wedding band will sit flush against the Marchionis. The setting height and side stone positioning are calibrated so that no shaped or contoured wedding ring is needed, unless you prefer that look.
Your Diamond
The Marchionis is available with both lab-grown and natural marquise diamonds, so you can choose the stone that best reflects your values and budget.
Our lab-grown diamonds are graded to D or E colour with VS1 to VVS1 clarity. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. They are real diamonds, certified independently by the IGI or GIA.
For natural marquise diamonds, we source stones individually to match your requirements. The marquise does not receive a formal cut grade from the GIA, so we assess every stone’s symmetry, proportions, bow tie severity, and light performance ourselves before presenting it to you. The pear side stones are matched to the centre diamond for colour and clarity so all three stones read as one. Get in touch to request a natural diamond quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why pear side stones instead of round brilliants?
The pear shape mirrors the pointed geometry of the marquise centre stone, creating a flowing, unified silhouette rather than three disconnected shapes. The pear accents extend the marquise’s elongated line outward, giving the ring a flame-like profile that round side stones would not achieve. It is a deliberate design choice that makes the Marchionis feel like a single composition rather than a standard three stone ring.
Will a straight wedding ring sit flush with the Marchionis?
Yes. The Marchionis is designed so that a straight wedding band sits flush against the engagement ring with no gap. The setting height and side stone positioning are calibrated during the design stage to ensure compatibility. You do not need a shaped or contoured wedding band unless you prefer that look.
Can I choose my own marquise diamond for the Marchionis?
Yes. If you have a specific marquise diamond in mind, whether a particular carat weight, a natural stone, or a family diamond you would like us to set, we can accommodate that. We will match the pear side stones to your centre diamond for colour and clarity so all three stones sit together naturally. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
What is the difference between a trilogy and a three stone ring?
They are the same thing. “Trilogy” is the term most commonly used in the UK, while “three stone” is more widely used internationally. Both describe an engagement ring with a larger centre diamond flanked by two smaller side stones. The Marchionis uses a marquise centre with pear-shaped side accents rather than the more traditional combination of matching shapes.
