About This Design

The Petala takes its name from the Latin for petal, and every detail in the design reflects that origin. Three sculpted petals on each side of the centre diamond cradle a grain-set accent diamond within their curves, creating a floral motif that frames the stone without competing with it.

What sets the Petala apart from other floral engagement rings is how the petals themselves are made. Rather than using standard jewellery CAD software, which is limited to extruding flat profiles, we designed this ring using 3D sculpting tools borrowed from the film and animation industry. This allowed us to model each petal with a subtle organic curve that follows the way a real petal grows, tapering at the tip, softening at the edges, carrying just enough asymmetry to feel natural rather than mechanical.

The result is a flower diamond ring with a level of botanical detail that conventional manufacturing simply cannot achieve. Hand-applied milgrain borders each petal, adding fine granular texture that contrasts against the smooth, polished surface of the 18ct gold band. Design Details

The Petala features a round brilliant diamond held in a four talon claw setting, raised just enough to allow light beneath the stone while keeping the overall profile low and wearable. The band is a high D-profile in cross-section, giving it a comfortable, substantial feel on the finger while maintaining clean lines that taper into the petal shoulders.

Six round accent diamonds are grain set into the petal motifs, three on each side of the centre stone. Grain setting presses tiny beads of metal over the edge of each diamond to hold it securely within the petal form, a technique that keeps the surface smooth and allows the diamonds to sit flush within the organic curves of the design. Each petal is finished with hand-applied milgrain, a row of fine metal beads that traces the outline of the petal and adds a layer of tactile texture to the ring.

The combination of smooth polished gold, textured milgrain borders, and the subtle sparkle of grain-set diamonds gives the Petala a visual depth that changes depending on how the light catches it. Your Diamond Shape

The Petala is designed exclusively for round brilliant diamonds. The symmetry of the round cut works in harmony with the balanced petal arrangement on each side, and the four talon claws are positioned to complement the circular outline of the stone. The round brilliant also delivers the most light return of any diamond shape, which pairs naturally with the sparkle of the six accent diamonds in the petal settings.

Metals

The Petala is available in four metals: platinum, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold, and 18ct rose gold. Rose gold is the natural choice for a petal engagement ring, its warm tone complementing the organic, botanical character of the design. Yellow gold brings a richer, more traditional warmth. White gold and platinum keep the focus on the diamonds, with platinum offering the advantage of never needing replating. All metals are hallmarked by the Birmingham Assay Office in accordance with UK law.

The Petala was designed from the outset to sit flush with a straight wedding band. The petal motifs are contained within the band profile and the setting height is calibrated so that a plain wedding ring sits neatly against the engagement ring with no gap.
