Eternity Rings

Eternity rings are one of the most personal pieces of jewellery you will ever own. They mark something real, an anniversary, the birth of a child, or simply the decision that this person is still the one. We design and handcraft every eternity ring individually, because a ring with that kind of meaning should never come off a production line.

We work with every diamond cut and every coverage, from a delicate half eternity to a fully set band that wraps diamonds all the way around the finger. If you already know what you want, you can browse our diamond wedding ring configurator and build it online. If you would rather talk it through first, that is what we are here for.

Eternity rings with alternating marquise and round diamonds in 18ct yellow gold

Half Eternity, Three Quarter, and Full Eternity

The coverage you choose changes the look and feel of the ring more than almost anything else.

A half eternity ring has diamonds set across the top half of the band. It is the most popular choice because it sits comfortably, can be resized easily, and pairs well with an engagement ring without competing with it. For most people, this is the sweet spot.

Three quarter eternity takes the diamonds further around the finger, typically 75% to 80% of the band. You see more sparkle from every angle and it gives a fuller, more complete look. This is becoming increasingly popular with people who want the visual impact of a full eternity without the practical trade-offs.

Full eternity rings set diamonds all the way around. There is something beautiful about the symbolism of that, a continuous, unbroken circle. But it comes with a practical consideration: resizing a full eternity ring is not impossible, but it is more complex and more costly than resizing a half or three quarter band. If your finger size is likely to change, or if you are not completely sure of your size, a 75% or 80% coverage gives you nearly the same look with far more flexibility down the line.

We can also make eternity rings with any specific number of stones or coverage percentage. There are no fixed options here. Tell us what you want and we will make it work.

Diamond Cuts for Eternity Rings

We work with every diamond cut in our eternity rings. The cut you choose completely changes the character of the band.

Round brilliant is the most classic choice. It delivers maximum sparkle in any setting style and works beautifully across half, three quarter, and full eternity designs. Emerald cut and baguette diamonds create a sleek, architectural look, especially in channel settings where the clean lines of the step cuts sit flush against each other. Marquise cut eternity rings have a distinctive elongated pattern that covers more of the finger with fewer stones, and the alternating points create a rhythm that catches light differently to anything else.

Oval, pear, cushion, and princess cuts all work in eternity settings too. Some of the most striking eternity rings we have made use alternating cuts, mixing round brilliants with marquise or baguette diamonds to create something completely original.

If you are not sure which cut will work best, come in and try a few on. It makes a difference seeing them on your hand rather than on a screen.

Setting Styles

The setting holds the diamonds in place and defines how the ring looks and feels on the finger.

Claw set eternity rings use individual metal prongs to hold each stone. This lets the most light into the diamonds and produces the most sparkle, but it creates a slightly textured surface that some people notice when they run their finger across the band.

Channel set diamonds sit in a groove between two walls of metal with no prongs at all. The result is a smooth, clean profile that is comfortable for everyday wear and protects the diamonds well. This is a popular choice for people who work with their hands.

Grain set (sometimes called pave) uses tiny beads of metal to hold each diamond in place. The metalwork almost disappears, leaving what looks like a continuous surface of diamonds. This is the most delicate and intricate option.

Rub-over settings wrap a thin wall of metal around the edge of each diamond. This gives a contemporary, smooth finish and excellent protection for the stones. It also works particularly well with step cuts like emerald and baguette diamonds where the clean metal border complements the geometric lines.

Coloured Gemstone Eternity Rings

Eternity rings do not have to be diamond. We make eternity bands with sapphires, rubies, and emeralds, either on their own or alternating with diamonds.

Sapphires are our speciality. We work with blue, teal, green, pink, yellow, and colour-changing sapphires, and a sapphire eternity ring can be one of the most striking pieces of jewellery you will ever see. The colour range is vast and every stone is different.

Ruby eternity rings carry a depth and warmth that photographs cannot capture properly. Set in yellow gold, the contrast is exceptional. Emeralds work beautifully in eternity settings too, though we always discuss durability honestly, emeralds are softer than sapphires and rubies and need a setting that protects them properly.

Metals

Every eternity ring we make is available in platinum, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold, and 18ct rose gold. All four are hallmarked in accordance with UK law by the Birmingham Assay Office.

Our 18ct white gold uses a high palladium alloy that maintains its silver-white colour naturally. Unlike most jewellers, we do not rhodium plate our white gold, which means it will never yellow or need replating. It has a slightly warmer, more muted tone than platinum, and many of our clients prefer it for exactly that reason.

Our Signature Eternity Rings

We are building a collection of signature eternity ring designs, each with its own page where you can see the design in detail. These will appear here as they are added.

Quality Without Compromise

We are not the cheapest option and we would not want to be. Metal prices fluctuate constantly and we are always transparent about what things cost and why. What we promise is that every eternity ring we make uses the best materials and craftsmanship we can offer, without cutting corners to hit a price point. You are buying something you will wear every day for decades. It should be made properly.

Every diamond we set in our eternity rings is certified, and every ring is hallmarked in the UK. We use the same standards across our eternity rings as we do across our engagement rings and wedding bands. No exceptions.

Designed at Our Manchester Studios

We work from two studios, one in Didsbury Village and one in Manchester city centre, both by appointment. Every eternity ring starts with a conversation about what matters to you, whether that is matching an existing engagement ring, choosing a specific gemstone colour, or creating something completely from scratch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an eternity ring?

An eternity ring is a band set with diamonds or gemstones, traditionally given to mark a significant moment in a relationship such as an anniversary or the birth of a child. The continuous line of stones represents an unending commitment. Eternity rings come in half, three quarter, and full settings depending on how much of the band is covered.

What is the difference between a half eternity and a full eternity ring?

A half eternity ring has diamonds across the top half of the band, while a full eternity ring has diamonds set all the way around. Half eternity rings are easier to resize, more comfortable for some people, and typically cost less. Full eternity rings offer a complete circle of diamonds but resizing is more complex and costly. Three quarter or 80% coverage is a popular middle ground.

Can a full eternity ring be resized?

Yes, but it is more involved than resizing a half eternity ring. A full eternity resize requires removing and resetting stones, which takes more time and costs more. If you are uncertain about your ring size or expect your size to change, a three quarter eternity gives nearly the same visual impact with much easier resizing.

What diamond cut is best for an eternity ring?

There is no single best cut. Round brilliant diamonds deliver the most sparkle. Emerald and baguette cuts give a sleek, architectural look. Marquise cuts create a distinctive elongated pattern. The best cut depends on your personal style and how you want the ring to look alongside any existing rings you wear.

Can I have a gemstone eternity ring instead of diamond?

Yes. We make eternity rings with sapphires (including blue, teal, green, pink, and yellow), rubies, and emeralds. These can be set on their own or alternating with diamonds. Sapphires and rubies are extremely durable (9 on the Mohs scale) and excellent for everyday wear. Emeralds are softer and need a protective setting style.

Do you make eternity rings with lab-grown diamonds?

Yes. We offer both lab-grown and natural diamonds in all of our eternity ring designs. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. They are certified by the IGI or GIA and we apply the same quality standards regardless of origin.

How much does an eternity ring cost?

The cost depends on the diamond cut, total carat weight, coverage, metal, and whether you choose lab-grown or natural diamonds. Metal prices fluctuate regularly. Rather than publishing fixed prices that become outdated, we provide accurate quotes based on current material costs. Use our diamond wedding ring configurator for live pricing, or get in touch for a personal quote.

Will an eternity ring sit flush with my engagement ring?

It depends on the design of both rings. Half eternity rings with a flat or court profile typically sit flush against most engagement rings. Full eternity rings and some setting styles (particularly claw set) may need more consideration. We always check compatibility and can make adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit. Bring your engagement ring to your appointment and we will try combinations together.
